What is Bagasse and Bagasse Packaging?

08-07-2022

Bagasse is the dry pulpy fibrous material that remains after crushing sugarcane or sorghum stalks to extract their juice. It is used as a biofuel for the production of heat, energy, and electricity, and in the manufacture of pulp and building materials.

Bagasse packaging is also known as sugarcane packaging/containers, this type of food packaging is a great replacement for plastic takeaway packaging. These fully compostable takeaway sugarcane clamshell food containers are made from bagasse, a 100% plant based material made from reclaimed sugarcane waste fibres.

The Bagasse Packaging in general can be divided into two categories.

· Bagasse molded pulp food containers,

· Industrial bagasse molded pulp trays and boxes for medical, beauty sections, electronics and beverage and drinking sections.

Compared with the molded pulp containers (which are available in the current markets) made by recycled paperboards, news papers, or wood pulp, our bagasse containers are made of clean resource with no odour.
